Green workplaces: Bonial

Communal seating area of a work space.

At Plantclub we’re working hard to bring beautiful greenery into Europe’s workplaces. We dropped by the Bonial office, to see how they’re liking the benefits of a green office—and to take some photos of their stunning space.

Bonial is a digital marketing company that connects shoppers with their favorite brands and stores. The Bonial International Group comprises 3 brands—kaufDA, MeinProspekt and Bonial. Currently Bonial works with over 1,500 partners across Europe, to offer data-driven marketing services that support retailers in promoting their offers and reaching new customers.

Their team of 300+ are based in Bonial’s Berlin HQ—an approximately 3000-square-meter space located in Wedding, right by Humboldthain park. Large windows offer incredible views across the city. Concrete walls and exposed piping give this interior an industrial feel, providing an attractive contrast to the greenery. A large, open-plan kitchen and cafeteria spans the top floor of their space.

We love the combination between the leaves of this Philodendron and the velvet of the chair.

Our design concept focused on transforming this communal area into a relaxing, plant-filled environment, where the team can come together for lunches, events, and company-wide meetings. We installed hanging baskets by the windows and shelves filled with plants. This allowed us to bring greenery into the space, without reducing the office footprint—this was a must, considering how busy the cafeteria can get.

We spoke to Victor Boscatt, Bonial’s Employer Branding Manager, to see how the team responded to their greenery.

“We love having plants because it brings a different vibe into our office. Berlin is a city full of parks and having an office full of nice plants connects us with them and with nature.”

Marta Susak, the Office & Culture Manager at Bonial, gave us her feedback on working with Plantclub. “They transformed our office space into a green oasis in one day,” she said. “We’re loving the new plants. I’m impressed with their professional approach, plant expertise and customer service.”

Employee happiness is central at Bonial. To show employees their wellbeing is important, Bonial gifted plants to 200 employees in Berlin—to support them while working remotely during the corona crisis. Marta told us about the experience:

“The feedback has been amazing—our colleagues loved this green, sustainable gift and it was a great way to bring Bonial together. Working with Plantclub was a pleasure—they managed to quickly process and safely deliver around 200 plants to our colleagues in time for Easter.”

Victor gave us the down-low on what it’s like to work at Bonial: “At Bonial we believe in the power of each individual to own their impact and drive meaningful results every day. Our diverse and open culture is the secret sauce to our success and ensures we truly put people at the center of everything we do.”
