Green workplaces: JUCR

At Plantclub, we believe an office has the ability to convey a brand’s personality or mission. For a company focused on thinking green like JUCR, a green workplace installation from Plantclub was a natural fit. We checked in with the team at JUCR to see how they were settling in with their new green office design.

JUCR provides EV charging solutions across Europe and helps drivers find and pay for charging stations, wherever they go. With over 250,000 charging points in Europe, JUCR offers more freedom to travel without having to worry about your electric or hybrid car’s fuel. At their new office in the Kreuzberg neighborhood of Berlin, we designed a green office that brought together key points of their mission: simplicity and care for the environment.

The office’s high ceilings and large windows gave Plantclub a lot of room to work with, while JUCR’s choice of the Woodland membership gave a wide variety of plants and levels to choose from.

Our design team’s goal was to work with the architecture of the office and bring in a curated selection of sleek and lush plants that would enhance company creativity and productivity, while reflecting the brand’s personality as a conscious and inspiring place to work.

The addition of trailing plants turns the kitchen into a lush space to take a break.

Plantclub designer Ailsa MacKenzie made sure to take advantage of the new office’s lofty architecture with her plant design.

“What I love about open and spacious offices is the opportunity to suggest the more 'full-bodied' floor plants (i.e. ones that not only grow upwards, but spread outwards) such as the philodendron red beauty and monstera deliciosa,” Ailsa said.

Plants with a range of leaves and heights were used to refine the interior design of the office and give more dimension to the space available. Cascading plants were hung using plants repurposed from their original office design to add “elevated greenery” and double as sound absorption. Free-hanging plants were strategically placed around the office to build a calming environment and create more opportunities for employees to connect with nature.

“When entering the space, you are immediately drawn to the large structural columns in the middle of the room. Rather than attempting to hide the columns completely, we utilized the structures by hanging plants from three of the most central columns,” explained Ailsa on her design process.

The design focused on creating depth, by placing together plants of different heights.

With so much space to work with, our designer chose plants like the philodendron red beauty that sprawls outwards.

JUCR wanted greenery in places like their meeting rooms to bring more collaboration and harmony into closed spaces. Our design brought in tall standing plants as statement pieces to accent and enliven these rooms. Plants with air purifying qualities were used in the entrance and working spaces to enhance the experience of both employees and guests.

We spoke to Pauline Neugebauer, JUCR’s Social Media Marketing Manager, about some of the positive feedback she’s received on the new office look.

“Plants just add more life to the office and provide a warmer atmosphere. After so much home office and spending a lot of time at our homes, all of us are happy to come to our beautiful office,” Pauline said of the intention of adding greenery through Plantclub. “We really like the variety of plants and how they match together. They are not the kind of plants everybody has at home, so you can enjoy them even more.”

Hanging plants are a great addition to a lofty office space.

As for other employees at JUCR, Miloš Milaković, Mobile team lead, added that the addition of plants to the office has offered more opportunity for socializing and connection. â€śOur plants are definitely a part of the team now and we even have some chats and jokes about how we think they feel and some team members wish they could have the same plants at their homes.”
