Green workplaces: Nuri

At Plantclub we love to see happy employees in their green workplaces. On our regular plant-care round, we swung by the Nuri office to take some photos of their newly-transformed space.

Nuri (formerly known as Bitwala) is a fintech company that combines everyday mobile banking and simple access to cryptocurrencies. With a Nuri account, you can manage your day-to-day finances and invest in cryptocurrencies — all in one place. Their easy-to-use app helps make technology-driven financial solutions more accessible.

From speaking to the Nuri team, it’s clear that employee happiness is central to their company culture. Here’s what one employee said: “Nuri will never jeopardise an employee's wellbeing in the name of getting the job done. This is what motivates us to go above and beyond to ensure that we do an exceptional job.”

Bringing plants into the workplace reflects the value Nuri places on employee health and happiness. “The plants really add a refreshing atmosphere to the office, it adds a lot of character and color to the office which is awesome”, said another employee.

Their growing team recently moved to an office space in a former factory building on Prinzessinnenstrasse, in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. Think exposed wooden beams, original brickwork, and plenty of natural light — the perfect setting for a green makeover.

We brought in large statement pieces to add a stylish touch to the communal entrance area, and chose plants with purifying qualities to improve the air quality (although it seems Nuri has the atmosphere covered already!):

“We have a very friendly, welcoming, and open atmosphere. You can always raise your voice if you have something to say (good or bad) and feel like you’re being taken seriously.”

Here’s a crowd of three we can get on board with.

Our design concept was to complement the industrial features with a variety of textures and colors. We used a combination of standing floor pots and hanging plants in the main office area, to create an inspiring environment with visual interest throughout the space.

And it sounds like people at Nuri are happy with the changes: “Having plants in the office feels amazing, it relaxes the environment and makes me feel at home even though I am at work,” said one employee. As with all Plantclub members, the Woodland plan gives Nuri employees access to a dedicated online plant store — to kit out their home office too.

Surrounding their team with beautiful plants is just one of the ways that Nuri shows it cares about employee wellbeing. Other company benefits include flexible working, sports subscriptions, mental health support, and a generous budget for personal development. Think Nuri is somewhere you’d fit in?
